21 Hours, 20 minutes and counting....
I've packed as much as I can pack at this point. I could pack more, but I'd like to be able to wash my hair, rinse off my contacts, and brush my teeth in the morning without rummaging through my bags.
I'm going in to the office in the morning to tie up a few loose ends before my departure. Then, I'll meet up with Jim (Paul's dad), my travel companion, at 4pm in Detroit. We'll fly to Frankfurt, then Hamburg, where Paul or one of his emissaries will meet us for the drive to Schleswig. Apparently, the challenge of getting from the Hamburg airport to the hauptbahnhof is too daunting for bleary-eyed overseas travelers.
I've been informed that there will be a HUGE party (Polterabend) on Friday evening in the village of Klensby (Klenz-bu), where Katrin's parents live. Paul has told me that this will be a once in a lifetime event with lots of beer (presumably Flens) and merriment.
I'll be the only non-family member making the trip from the States. Being in the same vicinity as Paul, his brothers, and his dad is to venture into a multi-lingual cauldron of razor-sharp wit and testosterone. I'm not quite sure what will happen, but I'm pretty sure we'll have a blast.

I learned this past weekend that there are 44 houses in Klensby. The village is small, but even the people kilometers away in Schleswig will hear this party. This will be a cultural experience no one will forget.
I am really looking forward to this.
